About the position

As a Financial Project Controller at Parallax Advanced Research, you will play a crucial role in the financial administration and risk management of the organization. This position requires a strong background in accounting and analytics, as you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and guidelines. You will work closely with other accountants, the project analyst, and the Chief Financial Officer to develop and implement financial and operational strategies that align with the organization's goals. Your responsibilities will include the preparation of fiscal reports and documentation, as well as the communication of monthly and annual financial statements. You will also coordinate the monthly close process, oversee program billing, payroll, and payables processing, and conduct monthly budget variance analysis. In addition to these tasks, you will lead the development of Indirect Rates and manage the annual reporting and reconciliation of Incurred Cost Submission Cognitive Agency. Your role will involve managing cash flow and forecasting, directing all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting, and ensuring that all financial transactions comply with Parallax guidelines and regulations. You will maintain financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and support the Parallax Audit by preparing necessary documentation for auditor review. This hybrid position allows for remote work while requiring you to come into the office in Beavercreek, OH a couple of days a week. You will also be responsible for developing and reviewing finance-related procedures and processes, recommending improvements, and managing the systems in place. Your contributions will support the growth of the finance team and guide larger multi-disciplinary teams outside of finance, making this a long-term challenge for those looking to advance their careers in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage internal financial controls and compliance established by the CFO.
  • Prepare fiscal reports/documentation and metrics; prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate the monthly close process, including overseeing bi-weekly program billings process, payroll and payables processing, and monthly budget variance analysis.
  • Lead the development of Indirect Rates and the annual reporting and reconciliation of Incurred Cost Submission Cognitive Agency.
  • Develop and implement strategies that result in a growing base of funds to support initiatives.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
  • Ensure financial transactions are consistent with all applicable Parallax guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain financial records and systems in accordance with GAAP, DCAA, DCMA, and applicable OMB Circulars.
  • Support the Parallax Audit by preparing auditor documentation for CFO's approval and submission.
  • Support the development and implementation of requisite policies and procedures to respond to changes in the regulatory environment.
  • Develop and review all formal finance-related procedures, processes, and administration, recommending improvements to the systems in place.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
  • 7+ years of broad industry financial analysis and accounting experience with government contracting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing finance accounting, budgeting, control, audit, compliance, and reporting within a complex financial environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with Federal grants, contracts, MOUs, and similar legal instruments.
  • Experience overseeing compliance with financial management and reporting for Federal and State awards.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Defense Financial Manager or other recognized third-party certifications.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Costpoint Financial System Software and back-end data sets (tables).
  • 10+ years' experience with a government contractor.
