About the position

The Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Manager position at Novartis is focused on providing ESG insights and guidance to various stakeholders within the organization. This role involves collaboration with multiple departments to assess and report on ESG ratings, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting standards. The position requires a commitment to sustainability and experience in financial reporting and accounting, with responsibilities including the management of ESG data reporting processes and engagement with local stakeholders on ESG issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely, accurate and auditable reporting of US country non-financial ESG data in line with defined ESG Reporting deadlines and standards.
  • Continuously improve and standardize ESG Reporting processes, ensuring optimal integration and accurate reflection of non-financial ESG Reporting across systems and tools.
  • Participate in various ESG related projects on country priorities, benchmarking, and initiatives.
  • Accountability for ESG Reporting, fulfilling requirements of internal and external ESG standard setters, and monitoring new ESG standards for timely implementation.
  • Ensure adequate controls in standard processes in line with the defined ESG controls framework, and ensure successful audit endorsements where required.
  • Collaborate with FRA Ops Controls & Compliance and Group Financial Controls & Compliance teams to ensure process compliance and improve controls.
  • Monitor ESG related audit issues and ensure timely completion of action plans.
  • Assess Novartis' preparedness to comply with new ESG standards and regulations.
  • Assist the FRA organization in bringing new tools and processes to the US and harmonizing global systems with US specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial reporting & accounting, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • ERP experience, preferably with SAP, and proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Project management and change management skills.
  • Collaboration skills to build and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Alteryx and systems implementation.
  • Familiarity with ESG and global ESG frameworks such as SASB, PRI, TCFD.
