About the position

The Financial Services Analyst position at Nationwide Financial is designed for individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and support in the financial services sector. This role involves managing and processing transactions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and enhancing customer experiences through effective communication and problem-solving. Analysts will work within a cross-functional team, contributing to the growth of Annuity & Life Operations (ALO) while receiving comprehensive training and onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares materials to propose, sell, and establish new plans and set up appropriate records.
  • Interprets plan provisions, product rules, and guidelines to process requests in accordance with Plan and Legal requirements.
  • Provides extraordinary care to customers through workflow management and meeting service level agreements.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve processes and member experience using lean methodology.
  • Follows up with internal administrative areas for completeness and accuracy of policies/accounts.
  • Researches, reviews, and analyzes errors to determine the best course of action for solutions.
  • Takes ownership of identifying and evaluating problems and analyzing customer inquiries.
  • Conducts follow-up calls to service issues and questions, de-escalating complex customer requests.
  • Reviews and approves requests for withdrawals, exchanges, deposits, annuity purchases, and contract cash-outs.
  • Compiles management information such as contract and sold case activity as needed by internal management.
  • Communicates with customers, sales force, and other departments on topics that do not require insurance or securities licensing.
  • Collaborates with outside business units to create innovative solutions for customers.
  • Maintains appropriate records and processes business according to regulations and internal procedures.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school studies; undergraduate studies desirable.
  • Participation in technical coursework such as LOMA, CLU, ChFC desirable.
  • FINRA Series 6 license preferred, may be required based on assigned product/line-of-business.
  • Four or more years of related work experience, including customer service experience, preferably with cross-functional business unit exposure.
  • Knowledge of Nationwide's suite of financial products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and solve problems using innovative methodologies.
  • Proven decision-making skills necessary for customer contacts.
  • Ability to multi-task and independently manage work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial services or insurance products.
  • Familiarity with lean methodology for process improvement.
