About the position

The Financial Services Analyst - Payroll position at the Administrative Office of the Courts involves performing professional-level accounting, payroll, and auditing tasks in accordance with established accounting principles and regulations. The role requires independent work within defined areas, focusing on payroll processes, compliance, and employee support. Responsibilities

  • Conducts payroll onboarding and exit processes, ensuring all necessary paperwork is received and processed on time.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and processes payroll transactions into the state payroll system, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Exercises appropriate actions based on payroll data analysis and interpretation.
  • Analyzes leave slips for accuracy and compliance with policies, entering data into the system as necessary.
  • Audits timesheets for accuracy and compliance, collaborating with staff to correct discrepancies.
  • Coordinates with payroll supervisor on complex payroll, leave, and benefit issues.
  • Consults with employees to provide benefit information and responds to payroll inquiries.
  • Educates employees on creating leave plans and applying relevant rules.
  • Maintains confidentiality of payroll and benefit information.
  • Files and maintains payroll records according to retention schedules.
  • Assists in payroll training and developing business improvement recommendations.
  • Supports higher-level staff with financial summaries and internal procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely allied field with 10 semester or 15 quarter hours of college-level accounting; OR two years of experience in fiscal bookkeeping or recordkeeping with the same accounting coursework.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to meet productivity standards and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects effectively.

Nice-to-haves
