About the position

The Financial Specialist position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves managing budget and financial activities at Lambert St. Louis International Airport. The role is critical in ensuring the financial integrity of operations that safeguard the American way of life by securing transportation infrastructure. The position requires collaboration with management to provide insights on budgetary matters and to make recommendations based on financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, directing, evaluating, and integrating budget and financial activities within the airport environment.
  • Serve as a source of information for the Federal Security Director (FSD) and management on budget, time and attendance, leave, and pay as they relate to the budget process.
  • Make recommendations on budget and financial matters and advise the supervisor of unusual requirements or findings.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National required.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-F or GS-9 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, including implementing and administering complex accounting and financial programs.
  • Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to this position, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • Combination of experience and education may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with accounting financial systems such as Oracle or other commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software.
