About the position

The Financial Specialist position within the County Clerk's office is a critical role focused on financial reporting, budget planning, and ensuring compliance with Oklahoma statutes. This position requires collaboration with various County departments and finance team members to support the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting. The role emphasizes analytical skills to audit processes and suggest improvements while maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical and sound financial support to prepare, reconcile, and post transactions, appropriations, and verification reports.
  • Collaborate with other County finance members to ensure timely and accurate financial entries.
  • Prepare annual mandated documents according to County, State, and Federal fiscal controls and regulations.
  • Analyze and prepare reporting summary forms and documents for presentation to County boards.
  • Support the preparation, analysis, and printing of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
  • Coordinate with County departments to assist with annual County Budget preparation and distribution of the County budget book.
  • Calculate and prepare Debt Service Fund for the County Annual Adopted Budget and prepare public notice publication for the Annual Adopted Budget.
  • Audit processes, assess trends, identify discrepancies, and suggest process improvements.
  • Send routine notices of occupational taxes and fees collected to appropriate state agencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports to track daily activities and departmental processes.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in a large-scale finance environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
