About the position

The Financial Strategic Planning Program Manager at Flagstar Bank is responsible for overseeing the execution of financial and capital management initiatives. This role involves managing the Strategic Planning Program, developing project plans, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables. The Program Manager acts as a liaison between Finance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Regulatory Remediation, coordinating internal audits and regulatory exams while applying knowledge of risk management and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Produce controls, procedures, processes, reports, presentations and other related work products in support of the Strategic Planning Program.
  • Develop and manage Strategic Financial and Capital Management projects and plans.
  • Organize, develop, and track overall assignments and deliverables.
  • Deliver complex technical and business materials in several risk categories including Capital and CRE Concentration stress testing.
  • Interact with other departments to obtain information and data, especially working with Finance, Internal Audit, Risk Management and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Develop reports detailing analytical methods, findings and actions items.
  • Prepare and may conduct and/or lead presentations to various levels of management.
  • Remain current on regulations, procedures and practices pertinent to financial and capital management.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance data collection and improve reporting for controls and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in the development and implementation of business policies, processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of project plan documentation, including project task plans, issues logs, communication plans, risk matrices, status reports and scope change requests.
  • Continually communicate the status of projects to the Sr Director and, when appropriate, senior management.
  • Research the availability and feasibility of vendor products when appropriate for assigned projects; provide written recommendation of most feasible solution based upon research performed.
  • Make recommendations for purchases as well as cost containment relative to the management of projects.
  • Enhance knowledge and skills by attending workshops, reviewing publications and training materials, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional societies.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in business or finance.
  • 5+ Years in Risk Management, Banking or Finance or as a professional in a relevant line of business at a financial institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Business Analyst and Project Manager relative to the banking or financial services industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) in business or finance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
