About the position

The Financial Systems Analyst position is located within the Information & Technology Directorate at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). This role is critical in maintaining system compliance with various federal regulations, including the Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM), the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). The analyst will be responsible for supporting both internal and external IT audits across multiple systems, which includes assessing IT controls and validating corrective actions for any identified deficiencies. In addition to audit support, the Financial Systems Analyst will develop comprehensive responses to auditors' Notifications of Findings and Recommendations (NFR). This involves outlining corrective actions, risk mitigations, and necessary Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M). The position may also require the analyst to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness and compliance of the financial systems within the organization. This position is open to all U.S. citizens and is a permanent, full-time role. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain and maintain a Financial Management Certification as a condition of employment. The role is subject to a background investigation and may require a security clearance. The analyst will work closely with various teams within the I&T Directorate and may be involved in filling positions on other teams as needed. Responsibilities

  • Maintain system compliance with the Federal Information System Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) audits.
  • Support internal and external IT Audits for multiple systems including assessment of IT controls for systems and validation of corrective actions for deficiencies.
  • Develop responses to auditors' Notification of Findings and Recommendations (NFR) to include corrective actions, risk mitigations, and necessary Plans of Action and Milestones.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Background or Security Investigation is required.
  • Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959).
  • Suitable for Federal employment.
  • Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level in the federal service, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
