About the position

The General Manager at Sycamore is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the restaurant, ensuring that business objectives are met through effective team management and a strong sales focus. This role involves strategic development in sales, costs, quality, and employee management, while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall strategy for the unit to meet business objectives and sales goals.
  • Maintain the highest standard of customer service in the unit.
  • Communicate and follow-up on unit objectives with all staff through to completion.
  • Maintain a sales-based focus, proactively seeking out sales opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including HAACP and Board of Health protocols.
  • Manage inventory, vendors, and payroll effectively.
  • Recruit and retain appropriately skilled staff for the restaurant and catering events.
  • Schedule staff appropriately based on forecasted sales.
  • Audit internal processes and adjust as needed to meet operational goals.
  • Manage employee relations to ensure a harmonious work environment.
  • Support administrative staff in communicating issues and day-to-day business needs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in restaurant management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage inventory and payroll effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Micros POS or similar systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fine dining or Italian cuisine is preferred.
  • Creativity in developing and implementing strategic initiatives.
