About the position

The Fire Alarm Service Technician role at American Fire Systems, Inc. involves servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing fire protection and security systems in compliance with NFPA codes. The position requires effective communication with customers and monitoring companies, as well as the proper use of tools for fire alarm service calls. The technician will be responsible for documenting deficiencies and adhering to safety protocols while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Service, troubleshoot, and repair fire protection and security systems in accordance with NFPA codes.
• Communicate with internal and external customers and offsite monitoring companies.
• Properly use tools required to complete fire alarm service calls, such as meters, hand tools, and drills.
• Perform service calls in a timely and efficient manner.
• Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to customers.
• Understand and follow AFS's Safety program, SDS book, and Hazardous communication program.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience performing service calls.
• Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes is preferred.
• Valid Fire Alarm License (FAL) required.
• Working knowledge of alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
• Willingness to perform service calls during normal hours and after hours for on-call rotation.
• Ability to complete necessary documentation with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and authorities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with CCTV, Security, and Access Control systems.
• Willingness to train and learn about Access Control and Cameras.
