About the position

The Fire Alarm Technician at Western States Fire Protection (WSFP) is responsible for providing high-quality customer support through the inspection, installation, repair, and maintenance of fire alarm systems. This role emphasizes safety, compliance with industry standards, and effective communication with project management and clients. The technician will also be involved in training entry-level employees and ensuring that all work meets NFPA and company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Test all equipment after installation or repairs to ensure system performance.
  • Troubleshoot and understand ground faults, shorts, and open circuits.
  • Work in compliance with the Company's safety manual, prioritizing safety for self and others.
  • Communicate daily with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator regarding inspection or project delays and job status.
  • Train entry-level employees on company procedures, systems inspection, and installation techniques.
  • Perform all work to NFPA and company standards, ensuring quality inspection and installation techniques.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator, and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete job closeout and turnover to the client.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Fire Alarm Technician experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is preferred.
  • NICET I Certification within 2 years.
  • NICET II Certification within 2 years after achieving NICET I.
  • Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
  • Willingness to perform testing and maintenance.
  • Ability to complete necessary documentation with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Proficient in using mobile electronics such as tablets for recording and transmitting inspection documents.
  • Willingness to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and required services to correct them.
  • Prepared to read and write English clearly.
  • Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and authorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various manufacturers' fire alarm equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
