FIRE FIGHTER

About the position

The limited term, full-time Fire Fighter will be under the supervision of the Fire Chief and/or designee in the Fire Department. The incumbent will be responsible for various duties including emergency medical response, firefighting, and operating fire equipment. The position requires physical labor and the ability to perform manual tasks under emergency conditions.

Responsibilities

• Trained in and able to perform CPR and Emergency Medical Technician duties.
• Administer pre-hospital emergency medical care to the sick and injured at the scene of emergencies.
• Respond to fire alarms and take action to extinguish fires, minimize damage, and prevent injury.
• Operate all fire equipment and apparatus, and perform manual labor with various tools.
• Demonstrate firefighting skills, hazardous material incident skills, and rescue and medical skills during training and emergencies.

Requirements

• Must pass the Fire Fighter I exam.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have normal eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License A, B, or C with fire fighter endorsement.
• Emergency Medical Technician Certification.
• Title 22 First Aid/Emergency Medical Responder certification.
• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
• Automatic External Defibrillator Certification.
