About the position

The Fire Investigator role at EFI Global involves investigating fire events to determine their origin, cause, and responsibility. This position is remote and requires the investigator to work from a home office while traveling locally or regionally. The role is essential in providing expert analysis and support to clients in the insurance industry, ensuring thorough investigations are conducted legally and ethically.

Responsibilities

• Investigate fire events to determine origin, cause, and responsibility.
• Accept assignments from customers for investigation of losses or claims.
• Determine the origin and cause of the loss/claim and identify potential third-party responsibility.
• Maintain required reporting commitments to clients in accordance with EFI's standard procedures.
• Promote and market EFI services in the insurance industry within assigned territory.
• Serve as a liaison between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
• Investigate losses/claims with illegal, fraudulent, or subrogation aspects.
• Identify and interview witnesses or involved persons for information related to the incident.
• Develop knowledge to conduct thorough inspections of public records.
• Maintain up-to-date information regarding laws on privacy and public records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification required.
• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification preferred, to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and analytical abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification preferred.
