About the position

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Director (FSD) to join our team. As one of the fastest-growing providers of high-quality security services in the United States, we pride ourselves on our innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit. Our FSDs play a crucial role in supporting our mission to provide best-in-class security and life safety services. This position is centered around delivering professional, customer-focused security and life safety services for the people and properties we protect, as well as leading the staff under their supervision. In this leadership role, the FSD will maintain a professional demeanor while engaging with customers, employees, visitors, and guests. A visible presence in the assigned facility is essential, as the FSD will monitor the environment to detect any suspicious or unsafe activities. Familiarity with incoming and outgoing traffic is necessary, as is the ability to know the customers, tenants, visitors, and guests. The FSD will be responsible for answering phones professionally and making clear and audible announcements, as well as permitting authorized individuals to enter the property and monitoring entrances and exits. The FSD must be well-versed in the facility's policies and procedures, enforcing them within the limits of their position. Following established emergency action plans, procedures, fire protection, and safety standards is critical. The FSD will monitor alarms and systems as required and may perform operational functions such as scheduling, overtime management, and reviewing daily logs and incident reports. Training and development of staff will also be part of the responsibilities. Additionally, the FSD will test and inspect fire extinguishers and other fire protection devices to ensure compliance with fire and safety standards. They will prepare reports on inspections performed, standards violations, and recommendations for eliminating fire hazards. Maintaining records and logs as required by law is also part of the role. In emergencies, the FSD may be called upon to perform firefighting duties and assist in fire drills. The essential duties may vary depending on the customer location assigned, and the FSD may also perform additional security services functions as permitted under any required Security Officer license.
