About the position

Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is expanding to Texas and is searching for Auction Production Support. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to help pioneer operational efforts for RIAC's premier auctions in Bedford, Texas, within a new state-of-the-art facility. The role is ideal for individuals with data entry experience and an interest in firearms, weapons, or military and historic collectibles. RIAC operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST, with weekend hours required for six auction weekends each year. As an Auction Production Support team member, you will be responsible for receiving tens of thousands of firearms, bladed weaponry, and military and historic relics each year for consignment. This vital role involves safely unpacking and moving consignment items, verifying and entering data into the database, assisting with auction setup, and ensuring that firearms are not loaded. A typical day includes client interaction, checking and verifying firearms, unpacking consignment items, entering information accurately into the database, completing logs, organizing inventory, assisting with auction duties, and packing and shipping items to buyers post-auction. Responsibilities

  • Receive and unpack consignment items including firearms and bladed weaponry.
  • Verify that firearms are unloaded before handling.
  • Enter consignment information accurately into the database.
  • Complete logs and ensure consistent documentation along with consignor instructions.
  • Organize and move inventory as needed.
  • Assist with auction setup and duties.
  • Pack and ship items to buyers post-auction.
  • Engage with clients and provide assistance as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Ability to work six auction weekends per year.
  • Active FOID card status (Illinois residents only).
