About the position

The Firearms Safety Instructor is responsible for educating individuals on the safe and responsible use of firearms. This part-time contract position involves instructing students of varying skill levels in proper firearm handling, storage, and operation, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and legal regulations. The instructor will deliver training programs, assess students' skills, and foster a culture of safety within the shooting community.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting training sessions on firearm safety for individuals of various skill levels.
  • Instructing students on proper handling, operation, and maintenance of firearms.
  • Demonstrating and reinforcing safety protocols during training.
  • Providing legal knowledge regarding local, state, and federal firearm laws.
  • Promoting a culture of safety among students and the shooting community.
  • Assessing students' shooting skills and providing constructive feedback.
  • Staying updated on new firearm technologies and safety practices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of training sessions and communicating effectively with students.
  • Managing range safety during training sessions or shooting events, if applicable.
  • Utilizing software applications for training department tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be NRA, POST, USCCA certified (minimum requirements).
  • At least 1-year experience in sales, marketing, firearms instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Cognitive ability to excel in fact finding and follow through with tasks.
  • Experience consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Sales experience preferred.
  • Natural ability to be both decisive and resilient.
  • Willingness to work hard under pressure and complete tasks without excuse.
  • Proactive and resourceful problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Maintain all Firearms Instructor certifications while employed or contracted.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in digital marketing related to firearms.
  • Familiarity with training software and scheduling platforms.
