Requirements

• Connecticut State Certified Firefighter II.
• Connecticut State Certified EMT.
• Class Q or Class 'B' CDL with a 'Tanker' endorsement.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive medical exam including a treadmill-stress test.
• Successful completion of the Airport Firefighter Certification program prior to permanent appointment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Fire Department, Firefighting, and Rescue Service from Military, Municipal, Airport, Industrial, or Organized Volunteer Fire Departments.
• Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and aircraft rescue firefighting duties.
• Respond to hazardous material incidents.
• Conduct confined space rescues and enter IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) atmospheres.
• Provide emergency medical treatment as needed.
• Participate in fire prevention programs and continuous improvement processes.
• Complete written inspection reports and conduct fire extinguisher inspections.
• Test and perform minor maintenance on fire alarms and related equipment.
• Inspect, test, and operate fire department vehicles and rescue boats.
• Receive and dispatch alarms and perform routine station cleaning assignments.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
