About the position

The City of St. Cloud is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Public Works Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of the city's public works department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to the community. The Public Works Director will lead a team of professionals, manage budgets, and develop strategic plans to enhance the city's infrastructure and public services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the Public Works Department.
• Manage and supervise staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for public works operations.
• Prepare and manage the department's budget and financial resources.
• Coordinate with other city departments and external agencies on public works projects.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to public works.
• Plan and oversee maintenance and improvement projects for city infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in public works management or a related field.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of public works operations, budgeting, and project management.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience with grant writing and funding acquisition.
• Familiarity with GIS and other public works software.
