About the position

The Firefighter (Paramedic) position within the Department of Defense involves responding to emergencies and providing advanced medical care as part of various emergency response teams. This role requires participation in training and maintenance of firefighting and medical equipment, ensuring readiness for a range of emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team, and/or a Rescue Team.
• Participate in daily training and instruction classes covering all phases of fire protection, fire prevention, and emergency medical services.
• Act as the driver/operator of emergency response vehicles including pumpers, ladders, ambulances, and hazardous material response vehicles.
• Respond to hazardous materials incidents as required.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections of firefighting transport vehicles, tools, and medical equipment.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide advanced patient assessment and treatment for various medical situations.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Must not have reached their 37th birthday by the date of appointment.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of California or equivalent driver's license with a Firefighter Endorsement within thirty (30) days of appointment.
• Must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Emergency Vehicle Operators certification.
