About the position

The Senior Firepower Hardware Engineer will lead a team of mechanical and electrical engineers in the development and support of Firepower hardware for ground vehicles. This role encompasses the entire development life-cycle, from requirements gathering to design, testing, and delivery of hardware products, ensuring high quality and timely completion of projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical direction for the design, development, integration, and support of Firepower hardware and firmware.
• Lead the team to ensure work is performed on time, with high quality and within budget.
• Coordinate with program/project/IPT leadership to assign tasks to accomplish objectives.
• Assist in developing staffing needs, tools, and training requirements.
• Mentor team members to establish technical competency and domain expertise.
• Provide clear direction to team members and support their development.
• Manage Earned Value Management (EVM) status and reporting.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities in processes.
• Support program leads in achieving team commitments and tracking department metrics.
• Develop high-quality, cost-effective planning and proposal inputs.
• Maintain ISO and CMMI certification by developing department procedures and measures for compliance.
• Promote a team environment and facilitate coordination between groups.
• Participate in technical and program reviews.
• Create an efficient work environment focused on product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with applicable department processes.
• Manage technical aspects of supplier-developed hardware and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or equivalent technical discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of military hardware product development experience required.
• Ability to effectively convey design options, solutions, issues, and progress via formal presentations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and engineers.
• Experience leading a team of 10+ engineers with diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to interact in a team-based environment across various organizations.
• Willingness to travel as required for job functions.
• Knowledge of ISO and CMMI standards.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
• Eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.
