About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and releasing system and subsystem assemblies, along with their corresponding components. This role focuses on gun/turret drives, race rings, and various weapon systems, ensuring their integration into both legacy and new platforms, as well as designing associated hardware and ammunition handling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design articulating, locking, or sliding provisions to meet Human Factors requirements.
  • Utilize CAD software to create models, installation, and detail drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance to Design Services and support concurrent engineering efforts.
  • Assist in procurement and on-site prototype build/integration activities, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Read technical drawings and perform tolerance stacks; knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
  • Possess a working knowledge of FEA (ANSA, with Nastran and/or LS-DYNA solvers) is a plus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a professional engineering role.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated individual.
  • Ability to perform preliminary design and analysis based on requirements.
  • Experience working in an Integrated Product Team environment and communicating across functional organizations.
  • Experience in performing failure analysis and providing technical direction for corrective action solutions.
  • Ability to write technical reports and modification instructions.
  • CAD modeling capability for generating feasible design concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to work in office, shop, plant, test lab, and test site environments.
  • Willingness to work overtime if required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with FEA (ANSA, with Nastran and/or LS-DYNA solvers).
