About the position

The Firmware Engineer Intern/Co-Op position at Schneider Electric is designed for students pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic design environment, contributing to the development of next-generation technologies. Interns will engage in firmware development, testing, and documentation, gaining valuable experience in a Fortune 500 company while working on embedded software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Expand and modify existing firmware to meet design requirements
  • Perform development (coding and/or testing) of embedded software solutions
  • Participate in firmware design reviews with peers
  • Work with the formal verification team to define and analyze developmental tests
  • Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing
  • Contribute to verification and validation test plans
  • Interpret test results and synthesize data into technical communication
  • Develop, debug, and analyze hardware and embedded systems
  • Contribute to the development of user documentation

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's, Masters or PhD degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Basic understanding of EMC
  • Experience in new software development and embedded firmware design
  • Experience coding with C Language for microcontroller applications
  • Familiarity with MatLab and SQL
  • Strong analytical skills for design and system optimization
  • Capable with electronics lab equipment for testing and debugging
  • Strong understanding of design for test and reliability in safety products
  • Ability to work in a process-driven environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in digital signal processing
  • LabView programming experience
  • Experience with wireless communications technologies such as Bluetooth and Zigbee
  • Thermal modeling and understanding of magnetics
