About the position

We are seeking a Firmware Engineer Intern at the Largo, Florida or Marlborough, Massachusetts site. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary group of System, Hardware, and Software Engineers. We are a growing business developing new products in an aggressive and competitive market. The new designs are exciting and technically challenging. Are you up for a challenge? We have openings supporting programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. As a Firmware Engineer intern, you will be a member of an Integrated Program Team (IPT) creating complex firmware solutions implemented in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), System on Chip (SoC), and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs). Development activities may also include laboratory integration, test and evaluation, fault isolation of prototype hardware, and system qualification testing support. This position may require occasional business-related travel. Excellent growth opportunities await you.

Responsibilities

  • Generate firmware requirements based on the system architecture
  • Generate firmware documentation that describes the firmware architecture
  • Design HDL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog) based digital logic circuits that are structured and readable
  • Build test benches to verify/test the HDL based design
  • Generate constraints for target device (FPGA/SoC/CPLD)
  • Create scripts to automate build, integration, and test activities
  • Verify target device functionality in laboratory environment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers)

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Nice-to-haves

  • Curriculum geared towards embedded systems
  • Familiarity with programmable logic development tools (e.g. ISE, Vivado, Quartus II, Libero, Synplify)
  • Linux scripting experience (bash shells, make files, Tcl, Python)
  • Familiarity with source control (e.g. GIT, SVN, ClearCase)
  • Familiarity with C/C++, HLS, or UVM
