About the position

At ASSA ABLOY, we are seeking a motivated and skilled QA Engineer II to join our Access Egress Hardware Team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and ensuring the quality and reliability of our firmware and embedded systems. You will collaborate closely with Firmware Engineers, DevOps Specialists, and Solution Architects, working on innovative solutions that enhance our product development lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the testing processes of cutting-edge technology in secure access. Your primary responsibilities will include enhancing the quality and resilience of our platform, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability for our users. You will assist in testing and validating new firmware features, providing valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement. Additionally, you will write and maintain automated test scripts, contributing to the development and maintenance of our testing framework and CI/CD pipelines. Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives, you will propose enhancements and implement advanced testing strategies under guidance. You will also help design and execute test strategies for firmware and APIs in embedded systems, focusing on specific test cases and scenarios. Maintaining and expanding automated test suites will be part of your responsibilities, where you will refine existing tests and add new ones as needed. This position will be onsite full-time in New Haven, CT, and offers a unique chance to work with a global team dedicated to shaping the future of connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the quality and resilience of our platform, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability for our users.
  • Assist in testing and validating new firmware features, providing valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Write and maintain automated test scripts, contributing to the development and maintenance of our testing framework and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, proposing enhancements and implementing advanced testing strategies under guidance.
  • Help design and execute test strategies for firmware and APIs in embedded systems, focusing on specific test cases and scenarios.
  • Contribute to maintaining and expanding automated test suites, refining existing tests, and adding new ones as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in quality assurance, test automation, or a related field, with a focus on embedded systems and firmware.
  • Proficiency in Python and Python-based test frameworks, with growing experience in test automation.
  • Solid understanding and experience with test automation in embedded environments, with ongoing development in this area.
  • Experience with API testing tools and frameworks, adaptable to embedded systems, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and their application in a QA environment.
  • Proficient in using Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and report bugs independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
