About the position

At ASSA ABLOY, we are seeking a skilled and motivated QA Engineer III (Level 3) to join our Access Egress Hardware Team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing our Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and ensuring the quality and reliability of our firmware and embedded systems. You will collaborate closely with Firmware Engineers, DevOps Specialists, and Solution Architects who design and integrate our products. As a QA Engineer, your responsibilities will include leading initiatives to enhance the quality and resilience of our platform, ensuring our users experience top-tier performance and reliability. You will test and validate new firmware features, contributing to the technical direction and future growth of our product offerings. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our testing framework, working with CI/CD pipelines, and driving the implementation of automation practices. You will utilize Python to develop state-of-the-art automated tests, streamlining processes and improving efficiency. Your role will also involve researching and implementing advanced testing strategies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to elevate our platform's quality. You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies for both firmware and APIs in embedded systems, ensuring functionality, performance, and security, while also developing and maintaining automated test suites to validate firmware and API performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to enhance the quality and resilience of our platform, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability for users.
  • Test and validate new firmware features, contributing to the technical direction and future growth of product offerings.
  • Develop and maintain testing frameworks, working with CI/CD pipelines, and driving the implementation of automation practices.
  • Utilize Python to develop automated tests, streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
  • Research and implement advanced testing strategies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies for firmware and APIs in embedded systems, ensuring functionality, performance, and security.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites to validate firmware and API performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, test automation, or a related field, with a focus on embedded systems and firmware.
  • Strong experience with Python and Python-based test frameworks.
  • Proven experience in test automation within embedded environments.
  • Solid understanding of various levels of testing and their application in embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with API testing tools and frameworks, particularly those adaptable to embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and their application in a QA environment.
  • Proficient in using Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
