About the position

The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for creating sensing-based experiences for Apple's Home and Audio products. This role involves architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining hardware and firmware, ensuring high-quality execution for new product features. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in firmware and sensing technologies, with a passion for innovation and product development.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain hardware and firmware for Apple home and audio products.
• Oversee overall sensor integration in the product.
• Ensure the highest quality execution to launch new product features.
• Conduct rapid prototyping and hardware bring-up.
• Design and develop software features for embedded systems.
• Quantify and test new technologies.

Requirements

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of firmware and device driver development in bare-metal or RTOS environments, ideally in consumer electronics.
• 2-3+ years of sensing system hardware engineering experience (optical, IMU, capacitive, environmental, light, motion, radar, acoustic, etc.).
• Strong coding skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience optimizing software for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with calibration and system builds in factory.
