About the position

The First Class Die Maker position involves supporting production operations by preparing and maintaining dies to meet production schedules. The role requires a journeyman certified tool and die maker to perform various tasks including die repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring quality workmanship and accuracy in a factory setting.

Responsibilities

• Support production operations to meet production schedule dates through effective die preparation and maintenance activities.
• Provide timely, effective completion of prototype and special project tooling jobs.
• Perform maintenance or repair on progressive stamping dies, fixtures, and gauges using details from the CAD database.
• Troubleshoot dies in the tool room or in the press.
• Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing, or other employees to construct and repair new or existing dies.
• Diagnose die repair requirements, damage, and solutions to dimensional problems with stamping dies.
• Ensure quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work.
• Maintain a neat, organized work area and work with co-workers to uphold housekeeping and safety practices in the shop.

Requirements

• Journeyman certification with apprenticeship complete.
• Proficient in the use of lathes, millers, shapers, grinders, punch presses, and blueprint reading.
• Experience with all types of measuring and related equipment.
• Associate of Science (AS) degree in a technical discipline is desired.
