About the position

The Fiscal Analyst 3 position is a critical role within the Employment Security Department's Financial Services Division, focusing on specialized accounting functions, financial analysis, and compliance with state financial policies. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and AFRS accounting systems, and involves managing employer premium payments for the Paid Family & Medical Leave and Long Term Services and Supports programs. The successful candidate will perform complex financial analyses, ensure adherence to regulations, and provide technical assistance to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized accounting activities in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and AFRS accounting systems.
  • Upload financial data to the state's accounting system and reconcile account activity.
  • Conduct complex financial analysis and develop correction plans for identified issues.
  • Manage unit financial and accounting operations, serving as a contact for state receivable inquiries and audits.
  • Process monthly financial transactions, including finance tickets and suspense accounts.
  • Record fiscal year-end accruals in the state accounting system.
  • Educate and provide technical assistance to internal and external customers regarding compliance with state reporting requirements.
  • Interpret state laws, policies, and regulations for various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
  • Two years of relevant professional experience in accounting or financial analysis.
