About the position

The Fiscal Analyst position within the Federal Research Division (FRD) of the Library of Congress is a temporary promotion opportunity aimed at organizing and analyzing financial data to support decision-making processes. The role involves developing fiscal controls, providing financial advice, and preparing management reports to enhance operational efficiencies. This position is available exclusively to Library employees and is expected to last up to 120 days, with a desired start date around December 30, 2024.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fiscal controls for effective financial management standards.
• Provide technical advice and training to FRD management on complex accounting and financial issues.
• Track budget execution and manage current fiscal year program expenditures.
• Lead future budget preparations and forecast financial requirements for the division.
• Develop, monitor, and coordinate financial and management reports for FRD operations.
• Prepare management reports on financial results and establish procedures for reporting.
• Research and evaluate automated systems to improve financial controls and workflow.

Requirements

• Experience in financial management and analysis, particularly in a government or research environment.
• Proficiency in using Excel-based tools and financial management systems such as Momentum and LBFMS.
• Strong analytical skills to develop trend data and financial reports.
• Ability to provide technical advice and training to management.
