About the position

In this role, you will assist management staff with the daily operations of the Accounts Receivable Business Unit, specifically supporting Public Utilities. Your primary responsibility will be to perform in-depth reviews of assigned financial activities and serve as the subject matter expert for all financial items relating to Public Utilities. This position requires you to apply your expertise in financial reconciliation and research on behalf of internal customers, ensuring compliance with Board Resolutions, Statutes, and Federal program requirements. You will prepare daily and monthly detailed financial reports to reconcile financial systems, and you must possess the ability to identify, interpret, and implement changes due to new processes, legislative, or regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will assist and/or perform in other activities and interact with internal and external auditors as required. In a lead capacity, you will train and assist staff in the use of the Utility software system and various other software systems as required. This position offers a hybrid work option, allowing you to e-work one day per week after completing your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors. The work hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all financial items relating to Public Utilities.
  • Conduct complex technical accounting and financial statistical research ensuring compliance with Board Resolutions, Statutes, and Federal program requirements.
  • Prepare daily and monthly detailed financial reports to reconcile financial systems.
  • Identify, interpret, and implement changes due to new processes, legislative, or regulatory requirements.
  • Assist and interact with internal and external auditors as required.
  • Train and assist staff in the use of the Utility software system and other software systems.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience.
  • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Related professional experience or certifications may substitute for the required education.
