About the position

The Fiscal Services Officer II serves as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the MDH Springfield Hospital Center. This role is responsible for overseeing and evaluating the agency's fiscal records to ensure accuracy for management decisions, projections, and budget preparation. The officer will supervise various fiscal staff and act as the Chief Financial Officer in their absence, ensuring the agency meets its financial goals efficiently and responsibly.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, review, and evaluate agency fiscal records for accuracy.
  • Supervise the Fiscal Accounts Clerk Supervisor and other fiscal staff.
  • Approve payroll transactions in Workday as needed.
  • Initiate interagency billing and projections.
  • Approve or reject purchase orders and verify fund availability.
  • Compile data to prepare special financial reports for agency leadership.
  • Complete year-end closeout in FMIS for submission to General Accounting Division.
  • Coordinate FMIS activities within the agency and maintain accounting policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 30 credit hours in accounting and auditing.
  • Three years of experience in examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems and records.
  • Possession of a CPA certificate or a master's degree in accounting may substitute for one year of experience.
  • One year of professional budgeting or auditing experience may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • Military service experience in financial management may substitute for required experience.
