About the position

Washington State University Vancouver is seeking an experienced Fiscal Specialist 2 to support campus payroll and grants administration. This position is crucial for overseeing payroll functions on the Vancouver campus and serves as the subaward administrator, providing essential support for post-award grants administration. The successful candidate will be expected to exercise independent judgment and decision-making while collaborating effectively with various stakeholders. The role involves a variety of fiscal responsibilities, including maintaining spreadsheets and preparing fiscal reports, which are vital for the financial health of the campus operations. The Fiscal Specialist will primarily focus on grant and contract financial duties, payroll review, campus time and absence tracking, and personnel activity support. This multifaceted role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The position is scheduled to be on campus Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and it is important to note that remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role. The salary range for this position is between $3,728 and $4,987 per month, with successful candidates typically starting at the beginning of the salary range and receiving scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with state regulations. Responsibilities

  • Oversight and support of payroll functions on the Vancouver campus.
  • Serve as the subaward administrator for the Vancouver campus.
  • Support post-award grants administration.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and prepare fiscal reports.
  • Perform grant and contract financial duties (45% of the role).
  • Review payroll (20% of the role).
  • Track and oversee campus time and absence (20% of the role).
  • Provide personnel activity support (10% of the role).
  • Perform other duties as assigned (5% of the role).

Requirements

  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1.
  • 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college-level accounting, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
