This position is for a National Coastal Program Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, specifically for the Alaska Region (Region 7). The primary responsibility of this role is to administer the Coastal Program, which encompasses two funded programs covering Southcentral and Southeast Alaska. The position is based in the Southern Alaska Fish and Wildlife Field Office located in Anchorage, Alaska. The Coastal Program Biologist will collaborate with a diverse team of biologists, engineers, and hydrologists as part of the Habitat Restoration Program. This program integrates various initiatives, including the National Coastal Program, Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, National Fish Passage Program, and four Fish Habitat Partnerships throughout Southern Alaska. The office also manages a robust Fisheries Program and Ecological Services, providing a comprehensive approach to habitat restoration and conservation efforts in the region. The Coastal Program Biologist will be expected to engage with established program partners across the geographic area, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve habitat restoration goals. This role requires a strong understanding of ecological principles and the ability to apply them in practical settings, particularly in relation to coastal ecosystems. The successful candidate will be involved in technical guidance, field surveys, data collection, and the management of project budgets and timelines. The position may also involve the development and tracking of financial assistance to project partners through cooperative agreements or similar funding mechanisms.
