Responsibilities

  • Integrate emerging technologies into program systems and assess their impact on tactics and procedures.
  • Lead and perform complex analyses of scientific data to evaluate impacts on biological resources and aquatic habitats.
  • Evaluate the effects of land and water development activities on fish species and marine mammals.
  • Provide expert consultative services to stakeholders in various scientific fields.
  • Write or review scientific documents for different stakeholders.
  • Mentor and review the work of lower-level scientists.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A degree in biological science with specific coursework in aquatic subjects and animal sciences is required.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service is required.
  • Experience in evaluating fishery or protected species activities for compliance with conservation regulations is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate scientific information to stakeholders is essential.

  • Experience in coordinating fishery or scientific projects.
  • Participation in the compilation of scientific publications or documents.
