About The Position

The Fish Culturist 1 (Seasonal) position with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission offers an opportunity to work outdoors, focusing on the propagation, care, and stocking of fish species to enhance fishing opportunities in Pennsylvania's lakes, rivers, and streams. This seasonal role is designed for individuals interested in contributing to fisheries management and public recreational opportunities.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training.
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License for vehicles of 26,000 lbs. or more before completing the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the propagation, care, and stocking of fish species.
• Learn to collect and select brood stock while minimizing stress and injury to fish.
• Operate a fish stocking vehicle safely and timely.
• Load and transport fish, monitoring their condition and taking appropriate actions.
• Perform repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Benefits

• Seasonal, full-time employment from February through October 2025, approximately 34 weeks.
• 40 hours per week with a work schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
• Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year.
