About the position

The Fit Specialist (Motorcycle Sales Associate) at Harley-Davidson of Indianapolis is responsible for creating lasting relationships with customers while promoting and selling motorcycles. This role emphasizes customer service, sales goals achievement, and providing an exceptional buying experience. Responsibilities

  • Create long standing relationships with customers and have fun talking about motorcycles.
  • Attain new and used sales goals as agreed upon with the sales manager.
  • Use floor time effectively to meet customer needs and give great experiences.
  • Present the features of all motorcycle products to customers along with their benefits.
  • Show each customer advantages of products over competing brands.
  • Follow process to ensure timely and proper completion of the business transaction.
  • Introduce new customers to the service, parts, general merchandise and F&I departments and their personnel.
  • Greet customers immediately, in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Cultivate prospects (e.g., showroom customer follow-up, phone-in inquiries, past owners, etc.).
  • Handle telephone transactions quickly, and courteously.
  • Practice a feature advantage benefit selling methodology so that all customers receive consistent treatment when doing business.
  • Use a common and consistent sales process for vehicle sales, trade-ins and purchases.
  • Ensure the delivery to customer is an 'EVENT' which endears the customer to the dealership.
  • Contact customers using personal follow-up to encourage additional sales and ensure customer satisfaction, ask for referrals.
  • Handle customer complaints reasonably, showing empathy and a positive attitude, and demonstrate our commitment to 'Make Things Right'.
  • Attend training sessions to keep current with sales techniques and sales department issues.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Motorcycle License.
  • Experience in sales is required.
  • High energy level and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with sales of Harley-Davidson and other products sold by the dealership, or the ability to quickly learn them.
  • Ability to work effectively with all areas of the dealership to maximize customer experience and dealership profitability.
  • Ability to work in a commission-based sales environment.
  • Must be able to operate a motorcycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in motorcycle sales or related fields.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software.
