About the position

The position involves overseeing the personal training and fitness floor staff at a fitness center, ensuring high service standards and professionalism. The role includes staff management, scheduling, marketing, personal training, equipment maintenance, event organization, member engagement, budget management, and compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee personal training staff and fitness floor staff.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and performance evaluations to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Ensure HR guidelines and policies are executed, including hiring protocols and attendance management.
  • Create and enforce job responsibilities for all shifts to maintain cleanliness and equipment status.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to foster a positive work environment.
  • Set and enforce attendance policies for the fitness center staff.
  • Manage budget expenses related to the fitness floor and personal training departments.
  • Manage payroll for staff via ADP and adhere to financial deadlines.
  • Develop and manage schedules for personal trainers and fitness floor staff.
  • Provide emergency floor coverage during operating hours as needed.
  • Ensure fitness and personal training assets are current and promoted in advertising platforms.
  • Follow marketing guidelines for asset creation timelines.
  • Maintain a small number of personal training sessions per week.
  • Conduct and assign new client orientations via the Kickstarter program.
  • Assign Kickstarter clients to appropriate staff and conduct regular feedback inquiries.
  • Set monthly goals for personal trainers to promote revenue growth.
  • Track statistics related to personal training and submit quarterly reports.
  • Ensure all fitness equipment is well-maintained and promptly repaired.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff for facility-related issues.
  • Create and utilize facility maintenance duties for staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute special events to engage members.
  • Attend and support various agency special events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Foster a community atmosphere by encouraging member participation.
  • Lead the fitness team by example and address member inquiries promptly.
  • Assist the fitness director in budget development and management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational policies.
  • Ensure all staff certifications are current and provide professional development.

Requirements

  • Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM or other approved certification).
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fitness facility operations or management.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proven experience in event planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of fitness industry trends and best practices.
  • CPR/AED certification is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced Level PC skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • CRM knowledge (Daxko Operations, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Ability to perform routine work with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management, customer service, organization, and time management skills.
