About the position

The Fitness Center Staff position is a part-time role focused on delivering exceptional customer service to members while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in the Fitness Center. The staff member will engage with members, promote fitness programs, conduct consultations, and maintain equipment and supplies, contributing to overall member satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to members and maintain a positive atmosphere in the Fitness Center.
• Greet members upon entry and learn their names to enhance personal engagement.
• Approach new members and suggest Fitness Consultation appointments if they haven't made one.
• Assist in promoting new or existing fitness programs to members.
• Conduct scheduled Fitness Consultations for new members and follow up to foster retention.
• Monitor and instruct members on the safe and proper use of equipment, providing assistance as needed.
• Maintain adequate supplies in the fitness center and ensure cleanliness of the area.
• Conduct facility tours for prospective members as needed.
• Regularly walk the floor to ensure tidiness and cleanliness.
• Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of fitness equipment and report any damage or needed repairs.
• Communicate and enforce all policies and guidelines of the Fitness Center.
• Document any accidents, injuries, or incidents that occur in the Fitness Center.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings required of Fitness Staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a health & fitness center setting.
• Current CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of general health & fitness and proper use of exercise equipment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with diverse populations.
