About the position
Wilcox Machine Company is seeking a skilled individual with strong fitting and welding abilities to join our team. The role primarily involves fitting various weldments, predominantly prototypes, based on manufacturing drawings provided by customers. Depending on workload, the candidate may also perform welding tasks and act as a lead person in the shop as needed. This position is crucial for maintaining the high-quality standards of our manufacturing services in a large job shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Fit a variety of weldments, mostly prototype in nature, from manufacturing drawings supplied by customers.
- Perform welding tasks as needed, depending on workload.
- Operate as a lead person for the shop when required.
Requirements
- Familiarity with ASME Sect. IX, AWS D1.1, and AWS D17.1 codes.
- Proper selection of specific weld procedures for specific applications.
- Experience with TIG, MIG, and Submerged Arc welding processes.
- Strong blueprint reading and shop math skills.
- Experience with layouts of large fabrications.
- Prior hands-on welding experience.
- Good communication skills and leadership abilities.
