The Five Hour Cook position at Lansing USD 469 involves preparing and serving meals to students and adults while ensuring food safety and quality. The role requires maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and serving areas, operating kitchen equipment safely, and assisting with various kitchen tasks as assigned by the kitchen manager.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Serve meals to students and adults at the specified time using portion control standards.
• Check to ensure all menu items are available and are offered, restocking and communicating with the kitchen manager if items are running low.
• Keep the serving area clean at all times, changing gloves after cleaning and before serving again.
• Check and record the quantities, temperatures, acceptability, and appearance of food upon delivery.
• Follow proper food handling procedures to maintain food quality and ensure food safety.
• Operate kitchen equipment properly to assure safety and avoid damage.
• Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment used in meal service.
• Report any food supply needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the kitchen manager in a timely manner.
• Prepare condiments for meal service, put canned goods away, wash trash cans, racks, carts, fold and put away laundry, wash dirty dishes, and put away clean dishes ensuring they are clean and dry.
• Practice good personal hygiene and food safety.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the kitchen manager in any phase of the kitchen as necessary.
• Observe district policies during all activities.

Requirements
