About the position

The FA/Lease Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in the management of general accounting activities, focusing on the preparation of financial statements, month-end close procedures, and compliance with the Company's Fixed Asset policy. This position involves analyzing and processing lease activity in accordance with ASC 842, as well as implementing improvements to existing processes and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain General Ledger and record journal entries to support accurate financial statements within a 5-day month-end close timeline.
  • Review and approve coding for purchase requisitions.
  • Maintain documentation for all entries, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries to support internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with different departments to resolve interdepartmental issues for optimal business outcomes.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and provide variance explanations and documentation.
  • Assess and process transactions related to fixed assets for appropriate capitalization.
  • Evaluate and manage transactions related to leases for appropriate categorization.
  • Participate in external and internal financial audits.
  • Perform account analysis and research any variances.
  • Complete ad hoc projects and special assignments as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting required.
  • 2-4 years related work experience, preferably with public company/industry month-end close experience; experience with mid-size to large public accounting firms is a plus.
  • Systems experience with Oracle (preferably Fusion Cloud).
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and documentation.
  • Experience with accounting for fixed assets (ASC 360).
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Understanding of financial processes and internal controls; SOX 404 experience required.
  • Desire to optimize use of Oracle Fusion application for analysis and transaction processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player willing to collaborate with members across the organization.
  • Willingness to work overtime during month-end and quarterly close periods.
