About the position

The Analyst position at MFS focuses on identifying investment opportunities within the municipal bond platform. The role involves conducting thorough research, building financial models, and providing investment recommendations to enhance the municipal bond portfolios. The Analyst will also communicate findings and collaborate with portfolio managers and traders to ensure accurate bond pricing evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on specific issuers and sectors, including financial statements and rating agency reports.
• Build and maintain financial models to develop investment recommendations for municipal bond portfolios.
• Write issuer investment reports to synthesize research for distribution to the municipal group and inclusion in the fixed income database.
• Communicate research and investment recommendations verbally to portfolio managers, traders, and senior analysts.
• Assist portfolio managers and traders in assessing bond pricing evaluations.
• Participate in team meetings to develop group investment strategies.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
• Strong modeling and data management skills.
• Analytic skills to analyze financial statements and detailed documents.
• Strong writing and verbal skills to summarize large amounts of information.
• Ability to work independently and manage a high workload volume.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team structure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in municipal bonds or fixed income investments.
• Familiarity with financial modeling software.
