About the position

Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager to join the Corporate Investments & Liquidity Management Team within Zions Wealth Management, located in downtown Salt Lake City. This position focuses on managing assets for institutional clients, including corporations, municipalities, foundations, and not-for-profit organizations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive portfolio management experience and a comprehensive understanding of various money market instruments such as commercial paper, corporate floating rate and fixed-rate bonds, municipal bonds, agencies, and Treasuries. Familiarity with the Utah Money Management Act and other state investment codes is advantageous, given the client base's significant presence in Utah and the Western US. The Fixed Income Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing assets within the specific parameters of the Investment Policy Guidelines for each account. This role involves working with high-profile relationships, monitoring portfolios, analyzing potential investment opportunities, and actively participating in the decision-making process for assigned accounts. The manager will develop and execute trades that align with the investment strategy and portfolio objectives while ensuring compliance with constraints and managing liquidity to meet funding needs. Participation in the Investment Committee may also be required. Collaboration with other Portfolio Managers is essential to coordinate investment strategies and generate investment ideas. The role includes conducting economic and fundamental research and analysis, contributing to fixed income sector strategies, and providing insights into credit analysis, risk management, and identifying relative value. The Fixed Income Portfolio Manager will also assist in creating portfolio analysis and reporting for client presentations and may mentor other team members as appropriate. Additionally, interfacing with compliance and operations teams is crucial to ensure effective back-office processes and trade settlements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assets within the specific parameters of the Investment Policy Guidelines for each account.
  • Work with high-profile relationships such as corporations, public entities, foundations, endowments, and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Monitor portfolios and analyze potential investment opportunities.
  • Participate in the decision-making process for assigned accounts.
  • Develop and execute trades consistent with investment strategy and portfolio objectives while managing liquidity.
  • May participate in the Investment Committee.
  • Collaborate with other Portfolio Managers to coordinate investment strategy and generate investment ideas.
  • Conduct economic and fundamental research and analysis; contribute to fixed income sector, duration, and quality strategy across products and portfolios.
  • Provide insight into credit analysis, surveillance, risk management, and identifying relative value.
  • Build on existing relationships and may serve as a relationship manager and primary contact with clients.
  • Assist in creating portfolio analysis and reporting for client presentations.
  • May mentor other team members as appropriate.
  • Interface with compliance and operations teams to ensure effective back office, trade settlement, and governance processes.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of fixed income portfolio management, including state investment codes and allowable investments.
  • Ability to develop investment strategies and provide recommendations for changes or enhancements to improve investment results and processes.
  • Understanding of portfolio composition and construction.
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic required.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Understanding of Bloomberg functionality including yield analysis, optionality, electronic trade executions, ratings, and economic calendar and market-moving events.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work under pressure.
