The Fixed Operations Director at Lum's GMC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service and parts departments, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This role involves managing a team of service representatives and technicians, resolving customer issues, and implementing service strategies that align with company standards. The director will also focus on maintaining strong customer relationships and fostering a positive work environment to support employee motivation and retention.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service and parts departments.
  • Manage a team of service representatives and technicians.
  • Resolve customer issues and maintain customer relationships.
  • Implement service strategies to meet customer needs while adhering to company standards.
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the departments and strive to meet them.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of department managers.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the departments.
  • Maintain reporting systems required by management and the manufacturer.
  • Monitor the performance of service, parts, and body shop departments.
  • Foster teamwork within departments and with other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting repair operations.
  • Conduct weekly department meetings and maintain good working relationships with customers.
  • Handle customer complaints and administer warranty claims.
  • Develop service and parts pricing plans and recommend to management.
  • Work with managers to improve overall dealership profitability.
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools and recommend purchases.
  • Establish relationships with vocational and technical schools for recruitment activities.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Four to ten years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present information to groups.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and commissions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in various areas such as Engine Repair and Electrical Systems.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
