Flag Football - Assistant Coach - High School

About the position

The High School Flag Football Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the head coach to foster the growth and development of student athletes. This role emphasizes fundamental skills instruction, academic and athletic excellence, leadership development, and positive social relationships among players. The assistant coach is responsible for promoting the sport, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations, and modeling professionalism and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in developing and implementing training programs for student athletes.
• Promote the sport within the school and community.
• Attend daily practices and contests, ensuring consistent participation.
• Model safety training and basic athletic training skills.
• Report scores and contest-related information to media and league websites.
• Attend required meetings and clinics for professional development.
• Ensure team members complete eligibility processes before participation.
• Handle accident and injury procedures promptly and accurately.
• Assist in planning post-season awards gatherings with the head coach.
• Maintain responsibility for program equipment and supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary and/or post-secondary athletics program.
• CPR and First Aid certification (must be hands-on training).
• Knowledge of league and WIAA rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Two or more years of paid high school and/or post-secondary sport-specific coaching experience.
• Completion of the National Federation Coaching Fundamentals Course.
