About the position

The Flag Football Assistant Coach at Marple Newtown High School is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in supervising and promoting the high school PIAA athletic flag football program. This role involves teaching fundamental skills, team strategies, and sportsmanship to student-athletes, while also planning conditioning activities to enhance individual and team performance. The position requires a commitment to long hours and weekends, ensuring a safe and effective training environment for the athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in supervising and coordinating the flag football program.
• Teach student-athletes the sport of flag football, including techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Promote sportsmanship and responsibility among team members.
• Plan and schedule conditioning activities to develop sport fitness.
• Conduct pre-season and post-season conditioning programs.
• Supervise and conduct safe practices and contests.
• Assess the talents and abilities of team members accurately.
• Promote athletes to college recruiters and participate in recruitment programs.
• Maintain uniforms, equipment, and school facilities.
• Monitor team members' attendance, grades, and personal conduct.
• Respond to player injuries using first aid techniques.
• Conduct other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Administration.

Requirements

• Coaching experience preferred.
• Minimum of High School Diploma/GED; coaching certification preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to connect with high school students.
• Leadership abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in coaching high school sports.
• Knowledge of PIAA rules and regulations.
• First aid certification.
