About the position

The Fleet and Logistics Manager will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fleet strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives. This role oversees a fleet of over 150 vehicles, ensuring their efficiency, reliability, and safety while managing logistics-related business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fleet utilization strategies in collaboration with the team.
  • Align fleet management with the overall business plan to support company goals.
  • Analyze fleet performance data to identify and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee inventory, maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations for all forklifts.
  • Coordinate with other departments for safety inspections and training for forklift operators.
  • Manage the company's fleet of 150 vehicles, ensuring cost-effective sourcing aligned with budget and strategic goals.
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Track vehicle usage and performance, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Source and manage fuel supplies to ensure cost-efficiency and availability.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and develop strategies to optimize usage.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with vendors, including maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, and vehicle manufacturers.
  • Lead initiatives to determine optimal truck sizes, quantities, and types of freight for outsourcing.
  • Assist in developing best practices for fleet utilization and logistics efficiency.
  • Stay updated on city, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Provide training and support to employees on safety practices and protocols.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on fleet status, issues, and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle and forklift maintenance, safety regulations, and DOT/OSHA compliance.
  • Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office Suite.
