About the position

As a Fleet Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE), you will lead technical projects focused on developing vehicle specifications, designs, and production processes. This role emphasizes optimizing crew safety, functionality, productivity, and costs through thorough analysis of alternatives and suppliers. The position is technical in nature and plays a crucial role in enhancing employee safety and productivity. You will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, making impactful decisions that contribute to cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/troubleshooting, and overall improvements.
  • Ensure system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implement corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conduct independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Perform power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stay informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology.
  • Ensure the performance of day-to-day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards.
  • Help ensure infrastructures supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle.
  • Develop the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment.
  • Assist in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system functionality and quality of service to customers.
  • Act as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience.
  • Two or more years' experience managing supplier contracts for the delivery of manufactured products.
  • Truck, equipment, and service body design experience.
  • Construction equipment design experience.
  • Truck sourcing experience using formal ‘Requests For Proposals' (RFPs) in partnership with Supply Management Agents or as a Supply Management Agent.
  • Commercial Driver's License; experience driving large regulated vehicles.
