The Fleet & Equipment Services Manager at Dolese Bros. The manager will utilize sound judgment to approve or deny repairs based on established cost thresholds and will maintain accurate data within the fleet database for effective reporting and tracking of various metrics such as driver assignments, vehicle locations, and mileage. Safety is a core value at Dolese, and the Fleet & Equipment Services Manager will play a crucial role in establishing and reviewing safety programs, fostering a positive safety culture among employees, and ensuring that all operational activities are carried out safely and efficiently. The manager will also be responsible for developing talent within the team, providing coaching and feedback, and coordinating with other facilities to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks. Additionally, the manager will partner with vendors to propose equipment purchases and manage fuel and oil analysis across all sites, utilizing software to track equipment usage and optimize buying advantages. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance decisions, leveraging telematics to manage alerts and equipment performance effectively. Overall, the Fleet & Equipment Services Manager will be instrumental in executing strategies that enhance fleet efficiency and reduce operational costs, while also ensuring regular attendance and commitment to the job.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, technical guidance, and instruction to mechanical and service personnel.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance (PM) is set up in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation and company policies.
  • Utilize sound judgment to approve or deny repairs of assets within a certain cost threshold.
  • Maintain data within the fleet database and reconcile for accuracy in reporting and tracking.
  • Assist with the establishment and review of safety programs and ensure operational activities are carried out safely.
  • Maintain and foster a positive safety culture by encouraging every employee to internalize safety as a personal value.
  • Develop talent by providing employees with coaching, feedback, exposure, and continuous improvement assignments.
  • Coordinate with other shops at facilities throughout the company on repairs that are under warranty.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to meet shared objectives.
  • Partner with multiple vendors to propose equipment purchases and disposition based on fuel usage and total cost of ownership.
  • Manage the fuel and oil analysis at all sites throughout the company.
  • Manage the telematics program to be proactive with maintenance decisions.
  • Develop and execute strategies to make fleet processes and spending as efficient as possible.
  • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of progressively responsible related experience, including at least 3 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
  • At least 5 years of asset management experience preferred.
  • Experience with fleet telematics preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic DOT requirements.
  • Familiarity with government regulations/policies and advising stakeholders on the company's internal requirements.
  • Familiarity with truck specifications ranging from medium duty to heavy trucks.
  • Proactive, well-organized, and effective time management skills with the ability to lead and participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of vehicle procurement and fleet contract negotiations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and reading comprehension skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide guidance.
  • Good mathematical skills including the ability to figure equations as required in analyzing fleet data.
  • Ability to ensure accountability and instill trust with employees by following through on commitments.
  • Ability to build rapport in an open, friendly, and accepting way across various levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for work to field locations and/or to attend meetings or training.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
