About the position

The Fleet Maintenance Coordinator at FedEx is responsible for managing outside maintenance purchase orders for fleet maintenance vendors, ensuring timely and cost-effective repairs of equipment. This role involves vendor management, cost monitoring, and compliance with maintenance standards, while providing support to Maintenance Managers and Operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Issue outside maintenance purchase orders to Fleet Maintenance vendors.
  • Manage outside vendors to ensure Standard Repair Times (SRT's) are followed.
  • Negotiate deviations to SRT's prior to authorization.
  • Code repairs completed in FXF's Fleet Maintenance System and initiate payment upon service completion.
  • Provide vendor support to Maintenance Managers and assist in educating vendors on the purchase order process.
  • Monitor and reduce maintenance costs by researching repairs before authorizing them.
  • Maintain accurate out of service status information and ensure timely repairs.
  • Determine appropriate repair costs with vendors based on industry standards.
  • Code all labor and parts using the appropriate systems and standards.
  • Maintain accurate repair estimates on purchase orders versus authorized invoice amounts.
  • Support Operations/Cross-OpCo on outside repairs as needed.
  • Identify and resolve challenges related to Outside Maintenance Purchase Orders, including vendor negotiations.
  • Handle phone calls and web-based service platforms for vendor requests and invoice processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of directly related experience in fleet maintenance, parts, and/or repair.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems software.
  • Good research, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and typing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Standard Repair Times (SRT's).
  • Familiarity with Motor Flat Rate Manual.
  • Knowledge of American Trucking Associations Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standard (VMRS) code keys.
  • Prior knowledge of warranty coverage.
